Hello!
Modern applications often involve hundreds of APIs and background transactions working together to deliver a single user experience. Monitoring each transaction individually can make it difficult to understand the overall health of a business workflow.
To help you monitor related transactions more effectively, we’re introducing transaction grouping in Site24x7's APM Insight.
With transaction grouping, you can logically group related web or background transactions and monitor them as a single business transaction monitor. Instead of analyzing individual APIs separately, you can now track complete workflows using aggregated performance metrics, alerting, and reporting.
For example, in an e-commerce application, transactions such as /addToCart, /payment, and /orderConfirm can be grouped together as an order processing flow, giving you a unified view of the entire workflow.
What you can do with transaction grouping
- Group related web or background transactions into a single business transaction monitor.
- Monitor complete application workflows from a business perspective.
- View aggregated performance metrics across grouped transactions.
- Configure alerting based on combined transaction performance.
- Reduce monitoring complexity for applications with large numbers of APIs.
- Automatically include transactions using matching based on a regular expression (RegEx).
How it works
Once transaction grouping is enabled:
- The selected transactions are treated as a single business transaction monitor.
- Metrics from all grouped transactions are aggregated automatically.
- Alerts are triggered using group-level metrics.
- Group-level monitoring data is collected continuously for reporting and analysis.
You can create groups using:
- Manually selected transactions.
- RegEx-based transaction matching.
- A combination of both of the above.

Newly detected transactions matching the configured RegEx are automatically added to the group, making it easier to manage dynamic applications.
Get started
- Navigate to your APM application monitor and click Transactions > Configure Business Transactions.
- Enable the Transaction Group option.
- Configure your transaction group and start monitoring business workflows with aggregated insights.
