S.M.A.R.T. Support?

It seems that this service does not support basic S.M.A.R.T. monitoring. Is this truly the case or have I missed the option entirely?

I assume you are indicating support for predicting HDD failures etc using smartctl.

This is something we do not support yet in the Linux Server Agent.

However as mentioned in an earlier thread, we plan to allow users to add custom monitoring capabilities (via a generic script execution) that could help you monitor things in the interim.

However we understand nothing beats an out-of-the-box solution. We understand this is important.

Hi ,

Currently we don't support monitoring S.M.A.R.T disk exclusively. Will add this feature in our road map and update this thread once live.

An alternative method is to write a plugin and monitor the S.M.A.R.T disk.

About Site24x7 Plugin

https://www.site24x7.com/help/getting-started/plugins.html

Writing a Linux plugin

https://www.site24x7.com/help/admin/adding-a-monitor/plugins/custom-plugins.html

Prerequisite: The Linux agent should be installed in that particular Linux server where the user would like to monitor the S.M.A.R.T disk.

Writing a Windows plugin

https://www.site24x7.com/help/admin/adding-a-monitor/plugins/windows-custom-plugins.html

Prerequisite: The Windows agent should be installed in that Windows server where the user would like to monitor the S.M.A.R.T disk.

Threshold Settings for Plugin

You can also set thresholds for S.M.A.R.T disk and be notified when the configured value exceeds.

The below document explains how to configure the threshold for plugin monitor:

https://www.site24x7.com/help/admin/configuration-profiles/threshold-and-availability/plugin-monitor.html

Hope this helps. For further queries, please comment in the below thread or mail us at support@site24x7.com

Regards,

Muralikrishnan
