Dependency View for Huawei Cloud monitoring
The Dependency View is a node-based visual representation of your monitored Huawei Cloud environment. Instead of navigating across separate monitor pages to piece together how resources are linked, you'll get that information within a single interactive view. The hierarchy of resources are linked from the project and region level down to individual components.
This helps you to understand resource relationships at a glance and trace the root cause of an issue without switching between multiple monitor pages.
The Dependency View is accessible only for active monitors and has relationships with the other supported resources.
Why should I use the Dependency View for monitoring a Huawei Cloud deployment?
Huawei Cloud deployments typically span multiple projects, regions, and services. Resources such as ECS instances, ELB listeners, RDS databases, and VPCs are often interlinked in ways that aren't immediately visible from individual monitor dashboards.
When an application drops, a traditional metric alert on an ECS instance often points to the symptom (e.g., HTTP 504 gateway timeout), while the root cause sits three layers away such as misconfigured Security Group rule, an exhausted SNAT port in a NAT Gateway, or a saturated RDS connection pool.
The Dependency View addresses such a gap by:
- Reducing the manual work of tracing relationships between compute, storage, network, and database resources.
- Providing a quick view to determine whether an incident is confined to a single resource or cascading from a shared component, such as a security group or subnet.
- Reducing mean time to resolution (MTTR) by surfacing the outage reason and the affected resource chain together.

How to access the Dependency View
To leverage the Dependency View, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Cloud tab, then select Huawei.
- Select the created Huawei monitor.
- Select the required resources and Dependency Tree tab.
This Dependency View requires active monitoring to be enabled on both the primary resource and its connected supported resources.
Key components of the Dependency View
The Dependency View includes the following components to help you understand resource relationships and quickly identify potential issues:
- Central node and hierarchy: The selected resource is displayed at the center of the dependency tree, with all related resources branching outward.
- Health status indicators: Each node is color-coded to indicate its health status, making it easy to identify affected resources at a glance, so you can spot the problem area without opening every component separately.
- Component details panel: Select a node to view details such as its current status, key metrics, and outage reason (if applicable).
- Zoom, pan, and search: Use the zoom and pan controls to navigate large dependency trees, or search for a specific resource by name.
