Route 53 Hosted Zone
Route 53's Hosted Zone gives you a clear advantage over other DNS providers with the ability to use Alias records and creating a hosted zone with Amazon VPC. By integrating Site24x7 with the Route 53 Public Hosted Zone, you can effectively visualize and manage how traffic is routed.
Setup and configuration
- If you haven't done it already, enable access to your AWS resource by creating Site24x7 as an IAM user or by creating a cross-account IAM role between your account and Site24x7's AWS account. Learn more.
- Next, In the Integrate AWS Account page, please make sure the Route 53 Hosted Zone checkbox is selected in the Services to be discovered field. Learn more.
Query Logging:
Metrics for Hosted Zone in Site24x7 is captured by enabling the Query Logging. This when enabled, will send the information on the queries received by the records in Route 53 for that hosted zone to the CloudWatch log group . Site24x7 then retrieves this log information to gather the metrics. Learn more.

Polling frequency
Site24x7 queries the AWS service level APIs and CloudWatch APIs as per the poll frequency set (1 minute to a day), to collect performance metrics. Learn more.

Record Sets
When a Hosted Zone is created, the SOA and NS records will be added automatically and also displayed in the Site24x7 web console. Any additional record set created, will be listed along with their name and value.
Logs
Log entries for every query received by the Records in that Hosted Zone is captured here. The same is sent to the CloudWatch log group as well.
Configuration
Configuration details of the Public Hosted Zone including Zone ID, Domain name, Query logging status and the number of record sets associated with the Hosted Zone.
